A New Era!

Maple Farm is Youngwilders’ most pioneering project. We’ve been very lucky to have the support and freedom to get experimental and work out new ways of running nature recovery work, and new ways of getting young people involved. In line with this forward-thinking theme to our work at Maple Farm, a new dawn hath arrived!

Youngwilders are running a new scheme called the Wild Stewards Programme. The idea is that young people will sign up as ‘Project Officers’ and be provided with some funds and creative control over components of a local nature recovery project they are most interested in. The experience they will gain from the work will be supplemented by classes and seminars organised by Youngwilders in an environmental area of their choosing. After a year, they will ‘graduate’ ready to make history in their chosen conservation field.

Maple Farm will form the first location where we try this initiative. There are already two excellent young conservationists who live nearby who are ready to rock, we’re really excited to see how they get on. We’ll be speaking about this all more on our instagram and our website for those who want to get know more. If you want to get involved in a local project as a project officer reach out to Jack at jack@youngwilders.uk

One further point of order for the new era is the long-planned outdoor learning structure will begin being made in May! It’s going to be a surreal moment as having a physical structure for teaching has been part of our plans for years, but only now have the stars aligned. Expect a rambling blog post about how things develop there later in the year.
