Our first hive making workshop for free-living honey bees

On September 12th, 2025 we held our 4th bee-related workshop this year. This time we were creating new hives for wild, free-living honey bees, using recycled materials. Our hives provide honey bees with the ideal environment to thrive, ensuring that any colony moving in will have enough space, insulation and access.

We know that honey bees lack suitable habitat and we’re excited to be doing our bit to help them.

Jason did a great job showing the participants how to make the hives, and everyone went home with their new creation. These hives can be installed in trees, ready for the new swarm season in Spring. Watch this space for progress!
